Kym & Mike // cinematic wedding highlights

May 20th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Brisbane

Kym and Mike organized me for their entire day – start to finish – and with the groom being a video professional I knew I had my work cut out for me. The day started with the preparations and Mike was already in his monkey suit by the time I got to him. He said he had planned it that way, but I think he was quite eager as well. Kym seemed a bit nervous when I arrived at the couples’ home a short while later, but everything went smoothly despite the tiny stresses that pop up on wedding days as they usually do.

The ceremony was held at St Brigid’s Catholic Church in Red Hill. I had just started filming the outside of the place when Mike and his groomsmen rocked up in their classic Charger. A great touch to the day (and you will see how much the groom loves that car in the clip!) After the service we headed to Roma Street Parklands for the location shoot and even though there were some sore feet at the end (including my own) we had a great time.

The reception was in the ballroom at Victoria Park Golf Complex just north of the city. With the couple being huge movie fans – each table had it’s own movie theme to it. One of the highlights of the night was the first dance as Kym & Mike strutted there stuff to ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ by the cast of the TV show Glee.

Tracey & Katie // Coolibah Downs on the Gold Coast

April 12th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Gold Coast

What an amazing day and I feel fortunate to have been a small part of Tracey and Katie’s wedding. This was the first commitment ceremony I have ever been to and these two lovely ladies pulled out all the stops to celebrate their big day.

Coolibah Downs in Nerang was the setting for both the ceremony and reception with a ride in a stretch Hummer for their location shoot at Burleigh Beach – both a personal and special place for the brides.

Tracey walked up the aisle to this song by Joshua Radin although this version is a bit more upbeat. Please someone notice that I timed the musician’s instrument playing with the soundtrack! :) I love doing little things like that and it mostly goes unnoticed. The tyre shot was done by filming it upside down on my monopod and flipping the footage in my editor. A bit risky but I made sure my camera was screwed on tight!

Some of the great suppliers on the wedding day included:

Cakes:Deliciously Decadent Cake Designs
Makeup:House of Glamour by Byron Butcher (makeup)
Venue:Coolibah Downs
Flowers: LWG Design

Your great perception, modern, and creative talent is A MUST for any couple wanting a videographer to capture their special day. There are videographers out there that are just so boring with the same mundane view and you are clearly the leader of the pack, blowing the competition out of the water with your fresh ideas. We cannot thank you enough for going above and beyond for us. We are delighted to be your first "Same Sex Couple". When the laws do change....and they will, we shall meet again. Jess & Nicolas | Arundel Hills Country Club | Gold Coast wedding video

March 18th, 2011

Gold Coast Wedding Video

Ok let me just state first that Nicolas is tall…really tall! Which made some shots a challenge on the day, but also creating some opportunities.

Jess and Nick had their entire day at Arundel Hills Country Club on the Gold Coast with their ceremony officiated by Gary Taylor – who I seem to be running into a lot lately. With the weather cooperating we zipped out onto the golf course to a few favorite locations where the bridal party relaxed and drank before heading back for the reception to party the night away.

Daughters Chelsea and Briana were such a fun part to the wedding. Carrying the train of the dress and providing some beautiful candid moments with mom and dad.

Kim & Frank // Robina Woods Golf Course

January 24th, 2011

Kim and Frank will be the first to tell you that they came about having me film their wedding in a round about way. But sometimes things just work how they need to and everything falls into place. It certainly was a day full of laughs and some tears.

The day started off at the Radisson Hotel for bridal preparations where the girls not only helped Kim get ready, but also decorated the couples’ room with some unique flair (including two smurfs that have sentimental value). It was then on to Robina Woods Golf Course just down the road for the ceremony and reception.

One of the things I love about filming weddings is capturing the emotions of real moments as they happen. You could see by the time Kim entered the chapel that Frank could hardly contain how he felt. That to me tells a story in itself that words could never portray and another reason why I believe video is so important.

The couple certainly made it easy on me as they had a few familiar faces in key roles on the day:  Derek Smith provided the photos and Helen Murray officiated the ceremony. They both make cameo appearances.

Nikki & Talon // An Island Hideaway

January 8th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Gold Coast

Nikki & Talon traveled all the way from San Francisco to have their wedding at An Island Hideaway on South Stradbroke Island. It was a small wedding party, but it was great to hear the American accent again and we had a blast in the short time we spent together.

This video isn’t the typical cinematic trailer you may be used to seeing. As a special request, Talon’s mother wanted to see something over the Internet of her son’s wedding to easily share with family and friends. I re edited parts of their day and this short clip includes their declaration of marriage and photo location shoot.

Available in High Definition by highlighting the ‘HD’ button in the playable window.

You captured everything from our goofy moments to our mushy ones. We could not be more pleased with the way things turned out! I cannot wait to show it to my mom and dad, there will definitely be some tears!...! My personal favorite part is the ending with pictures that come to life with us spinning. I would highly recommend your services to any bride. Thanks again! Nikki & Talon Sutherland See More (May 11, 2011 - 11:19 pm)

We knew when we found your site after looking at so many other videographer's work that your's was far superior to any of them... and we really looked hard! You are a true artist Geoff, and you obviously love your work to go to such care to capture each special moment and put it so perfectly to our choice of music. My favorite part (in the long version, not being shown on this video) was what you did in the very end... going from a still black & white, fading into to color and then adding the movement to them twirling around.... OMG it was magical! It made me think "Wow my son is really married now!" You did a wonderful job of bringing their wedding to us. I felt like I was there. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Min Yen & Henry // cinematic wedding highlights

January 8th, 2011

Min Yen & Henry were married in the beautiful atmosphere of St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane. I also had the privilege of working with Ben and Lisa of Ben Clark Photography for the first time.

We stopped at the Botanical Gardens and Kangaroo Point for photos before heading to Custom’s House for their reception – one of my favorite venues.

Tiffany & Tony // The Hyatt, Sanctuary Cove

December 13th, 2010

Tiffany & Tony were married in December at the Hyatt Chapel in Sanctuary Cove – a place I have filmed many times before.

One of things that really stood out to me on the day was the amazing landscapes we had during our location shoot at the Spit in Main Beach. The sun was shining, but the backdrop on the horizon was dark and cloudy – a great contrast and something not seen often.

I was fortunate to be working around two professional friends of mine: celebrant Karen Miles and photographer Josh White of White Pearl Photography.

Filmed with a Canon 5d Mark II

Kristee & Nev // An Island Hideaway

November 17th, 2010

Kristee & Nev are from Melbourne and decided to fly to the Gold Coast and host their big day here.

The boat ride to South Stradbroke is always picturesque, when the weather cooperates, and the guests seemed to enjoy the short ferry to the island while soaking up the scenery.

I have filmed quite a few weddings at An Island Hideaway now and owners Michele & Bennie always get rave reviews about their venue.  I always look forward to my shoots there.

Filmed on a Canon 5d Mark II and viewable in HD.

Amy & Craig // Happy Everafter In Your Eyes

November 5th, 2010

Amy & Craig are friends of mine and when I found out they were getting married I of course put my hand up to be there and capture their day.

All Souls Anglican Church was the setting for the nuptials in the small, but beautiful town of Bangalow. The bride’s dress was stunning and you could really feel the energy throughout the entire ceremony between these two amazing people.

I used Amy’s processional song, “Happy Everafter in Your Eyes” by Ben Harper for the soundtrack. It’s shorter than what I am used to but the clip is still powerful and full of emotion.

Congratulations Amy & Craig and good luck in the UK. It was a pleasure to be there for you two on one of the biggest days of your lives.

Kellie & Josh // You Make Me Smile

November 4th, 2010

It’s hard not to sense the great chemistry that Kellie & Josh have by watching the clip. You can tell they are very much in love and share a wonderful connection between the two of them.

All they did on the day was laugh and have fun and everything unfolded perfectly around them. A bright, sunny day for their ceremony at Ebenezer Park at Tweed Heads to the full moon and fireworks over the beach for their reception just down the road at Twin Towns.

I always say I see something different at every wedding I film and this time it was the bride arriving in a Volkswagen bug with the license plate reading “LovDub.” Classic stuff!
