Emily & Nick | Hyatt – Sanctuary Cove | Gold Coast wedding video

November 29th, 2011

Gold Coast Wedding Video

I can’t even begin to count how many times I have filmed a wedding video at the Hyatt in Sanctuary Cove, but this had to be the biggest bridal party ever:  4 bridesmaids, 4 groomsmen, 7 flower girls and 4 page boys.  In the clip you will see the couples’ daughter, Avah, who will make your heart melt with some of the candid moments I captured of her.  At one point in the ceremony she blew the crowd a kiss and gave the cheekiest smile afterwards!

I started the day with the ladies in their hotel room at the Hyatt, and because makeup artist Donna Sullivan is so darn efficient the girls were finished by the time I got there.  So I just watched them have a few laughs and open a bottle of champers before it was time for Emily to get into her gorgeous wedding dress.

The Hyatt wedding chapel was  packed with family and friends and Gold Coast based wedding celebrant Karen Miles was on hand to perform her usual brilliant service.  Nick cried as Emily’s grandfather walked her down the aisle which was a huge moment for the couple.  I learned shortly after posting this video that Em’s grandfather had a bad turn back in February and that his plan to walk the bride down the aisle was up in the air.  Adding his voice to the beginning of this highlight clip was unplanned, but it meant so much to the family.  I guess it shows that some things are just meant to be.

Kate & Marin | Emerald Lakes | Gold Coast wedding video

November 26th, 2011

Gold Coast Wedding Video

Kate & Marin booked with us ages ago and the bride was particularly looking forward to their big day for a long time. We knew the shoot could be a bit hectic considering the bride and groom have five kids, but we always enjoy the random and funny things children bring to a shoot. Not to mention the cute factor!

I started the video with the boys at their hotel in Broadbeach where they got an early jump on the days celebrations :P Next it was onto the ladies’ preparations at the Q1 building just up the road. I was pleased to see one of my favorite makeup artists, Donna Sullivan, already there and doing her usual brilliant job. I always attempt to get to the bride early enough to get the makeup and hair, but Donna can be quite efficient! I can’t recommend her highly enough and you can find her details on our site or by clicking the link.

Soon after Gold Coast based photographer, Josh, from White Pearl Photography arrived. Josh is another one of our recommended suppliers and his work is stunning.

The wedding ceremony was held outside at Emerald Lakes Golf Course with the reception at the Watermark Hotel in Surfers Paradise.

Shirlyn & Sam | Radisson Resort | Gold Coast wedding video

September 22nd, 2011

Gold Coast Wedding Video

I had such a fun time filming the wedding of Shirlyn and Sam and believe me they made it easy!  The two of them exchanged so many laughs and cute expressions that all I had to do was sit back and let everything unfold in front of me.

Shirlyn and the girls made their preparations at Peppers Broadbeach -  a new hotel in the revamped and lively part of the Gold Coast.  I have to say from a wedding video professional’s point of view the lighting in the room was amazing!  So many people have commented on it after seeing this short clip.  I got there just as the bride was getting her finishing touches by makeup artist Mia Connor.

A short drive later and I arrived at Radisson Resort on the Gold Coast which hosted both the ceremony and reception.  The conditions were perfect as the couple exchanged their vows under a gazebo overlooking the golf course.  With my only complaint being a few wind gusts.  Our location shoot with wedding photographer Andrew (Thurtell Photography) took us to Pizzey Park in Mermaid Waters.  In my six years here on the Coast I have never been to this little jewel of a place and the densely packed trees provided a stunning backdrop.

Congratulations Shirlyn and Sam!  I hope you enjoy your honeymoon visiting my neck of the woods!  (New York).

Sally & Matthew // Dreamworld on the Gold Coast

July 12th, 2011

I think it’s been close 11 years since I have been to Dreamworld and I never thought I would ever film a wedding day there. Sally & Matthew had their ceremony and reception on Tiger Island within the theme park with 50 of their family and friends in attendance. One added surprise for me was running into Reverend John Catling who officiated the ceremony. I used to run into John all the time when Avica Resort hosted a wedding event – sadly it closed at the end of 2009.

After the ceremony Dreamworld put on a show that included two of their Sumatran tigers and wowed the crowd. Mohan, the white tiger, came out for an up close and personal visit with the guests and to pose for a photo or two with the couple. Working with me on the day was photographer Yohti Jenkins of Yohti Images who has been a friend of mine for a few years now. It’s always a treat to film a wedding video with a different setting and unique elements to it, but having people you know who are great at their respective jobs just makes it that much better.

Congratulations Sally & Matthew and thank you for having me there on your big day!

Kym & Mike // cinematic wedding highlights

May 20th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Brisbane

Kym and Mike organized me for their entire day – start to finish – and with the groom being a video professional I knew I had my work cut out for me. The day started with the preparations and Mike was already in his monkey suit by the time I got to him. He said he had planned it that way, but I think he was quite eager as well. Kym seemed a bit nervous when I arrived at the couples’ home a short while later, but everything went smoothly despite the tiny stresses that pop up on wedding days as they usually do.

The ceremony was held at St Brigid’s Catholic Church in Red Hill. I had just started filming the outside of the place when Mike and his groomsmen rocked up in their classic Charger. A great touch to the day (and you will see how much the groom loves that car in the clip!) After the service we headed to Roma Street Parklands for the location shoot and even though there were some sore feet at the end (including my own) we had a great time.

The reception was in the ballroom at Victoria Park Golf Complex just north of the city. With the couple being huge movie fans – each table had it’s own movie theme to it. One of the highlights of the night was the first dance as Kym & Mike strutted there stuff to ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ by the cast of the TV show Glee.

Tracey & Katie // Coolibah Downs on the Gold Coast

April 12th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Gold Coast

What an amazing day and I feel fortunate to have been a small part of Tracey and Katie’s wedding. This was the first commitment ceremony I have ever been to and these two lovely ladies pulled out all the stops to celebrate their big day.

Coolibah Downs in Nerang was the setting for both the ceremony and reception with a ride in a stretch Hummer for their location shoot at Burleigh Beach – both a personal and special place for the brides.

Tracey walked up the aisle to this song by Joshua Radin although this version is a bit more upbeat. Please someone notice that I timed the musician’s instrument playing with the soundtrack! :) I love doing little things like that and it mostly goes unnoticed. The tyre shot was done by filming it upside down on my monopod and flipping the footage in my editor. A bit risky but I made sure my camera was screwed on tight!

Some of the great suppliers on the wedding day included:

Cakes:Deliciously Decadent Cake Designs
Makeup:House of Glamour by Byron Butcher (makeup)
Venue:Coolibah Downs
Flowers: LWG Design

Your great perception, modern, and creative talent is A MUST for any couple wanting a videographer to capture their special day. There are videographers out there that are just so boring with the same mundane view and you are clearly the leader of the pack, blowing the competition out of the water with your fresh ideas. We cannot thank you enough for going above and beyond for us. We are delighted to be your first "Same Sex Couple". When the laws do change....and they will, we shall meet again. Jess & Nicolas | Arundel Hills Country Club | Gold Coast wedding video

March 18th, 2011

Gold Coast Wedding Video

Ok let me just state first that Nicolas is tall…really tall! Which made some shots a challenge on the day, but also creating some opportunities.

Jess and Nick had their entire day at Arundel Hills Country Club on the Gold Coast with their ceremony officiated by Gary Taylor – who I seem to be running into a lot lately. With the weather cooperating we zipped out onto the golf course to a few favorite locations where the bridal party relaxed and drank before heading back for the reception to party the night away.

Daughters Chelsea and Briana were such a fun part to the wedding. Carrying the train of the dress and providing some beautiful candid moments with mom and dad.

Kim & Frank // Robina Woods Golf Course

January 24th, 2011

Kim and Frank will be the first to tell you that they came about having me film their wedding in a round about way. But sometimes things just work how they need to and everything falls into place. It certainly was a day full of laughs and some tears.

The day started off at the Radisson Hotel for bridal preparations where the girls not only helped Kim get ready, but also decorated the couples’ room with some unique flair (including two smurfs that have sentimental value). It was then on to Robina Woods Golf Course just down the road for the ceremony and reception.

One of the things I love about filming weddings is capturing the emotions of real moments as they happen. You could see by the time Kim entered the chapel that Frank could hardly contain how he felt. That to me tells a story in itself that words could never portray and another reason why I believe video is so important.

The couple certainly made it easy on me as they had a few familiar faces in key roles on the day:  Derek Smith provided the photos and Helen Murray officiated the ceremony. They both make cameo appearances.

Now today, i finally got to see ours. I love the way you captured our love in this beautiful work of art. There are so many unique scenes, building up a theme which portrayed a magical love story the way it all came together. I am forever grateful that you were a part of our day, and that I can look back on what was a fairytale for me and relive it over and over again. I cant wait to see the full dvd :-) Kim (March 9, 2011 - 5:03 pm)

Nikki & Talon // An Island Hideaway

January 8th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Gold Coast

Nikki & Talon traveled all the way from San Francisco to have their wedding at An Island Hideaway on South Stradbroke Island. It was a small wedding party, but it was great to hear the American accent again and we had a blast in the short time we spent together.

This video isn’t the typical cinematic trailer you may be used to seeing. As a special request, Talon’s mother wanted to see something over the Internet of her son’s wedding to easily share with family and friends. I re edited parts of their day and this short clip includes their declaration of marriage and photo location shoot.

Available in High Definition by highlighting the ‘HD’ button in the playable window.

You captured everything from our goofy moments to our mushy ones. We could not be more pleased with the way things turned out! I cannot wait to show it to my mom and dad, there will definitely be some tears!...! My personal favorite part is the ending with pictures that come to life with us spinning. I would highly recommend your services to any bride. Thanks again! Nikki & Talon Sutherland See More (May 11, 2011 - 11:19 pm)

We knew when we found your site after looking at so many other videographer's work that your's was far superior to any of them... and we really looked hard! You are a true artist Geoff, and you obviously love your work to go to such care to capture each special moment and put it so perfectly to our choice of music. My favorite part (in the long version, not being shown on this video) was what you did in the very end... going from a still black & white, fading into to color and then adding the movement to them twirling around.... OMG it was magical! It made me think "Wow my son is really married now!" You did a wonderful job of bringing their wedding to us. I felt like I was there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
