Melissa & Ryan | Peppers Resort | Kingscliff Wedding video

Kingscliff Wedding Video

Melissa & Ryan booked us for their wedding video for the entire day which gave me the opportunity to start quite early.  Both the bride and groom had their preparations at Peppers Resort in Kingscliff with their ceremony held just on the other side of the resort.  Gold Coast based wedding celebrant Helen Murray conducted a beautiful ceremony filled with personal vows written by the couple.  I have always been a big fan of weddings that include them as it adds such a personal and emotional touch as you will hear in the clip.

After the nuptials we headed to Cabarita Beach with the bridal party and working alongside Adam (Deep Grey Photography) we were able to get some amazing angles from the cliff face overlooking the water.  As you can see the couple made it quite easy for me to capture many candid interactions between them.  After the shoot we headed back to Peppers for the reception and I must say the wedding cake was one of the best I have ever had!  It was made by Katrina who was one of Melissa’s bridesmaids.

This video is actually a bit of a milestone for us here at Motion Art.  For some time now I have been wanting to put not only more narration into our clips but also an editing method known as ‘timeshifting.’  Instead of editing chronologically I actually mix and match the footage from different parts of the day but in a way that makes sense and tells a story.  This is the essence of wedding cinematography versus traditional videography.  I have had the pleasure of being mentored by a few of the worlds greats in the industry and they all practice this method.  I know other professional video companies may say they are cinematographers or “cinema – style” but the proof is in the pudding as the saying goes.  Eventually we will evolve to include this in all of our works not only online but the longer movie versions we cut for each of our couples.  Exciting times are ahead for us and judging from the overwhelming reaction we have been receiving on our latest clips we know we have hit a nerve.

Paula & Michael // Roma Street Parklands

September 12th, 2011

Brisbane Wedding Video

I always seem to be filming a wedding in Brisbane on the day of Riverfire and this was my third year in a row. Paula & Michael had their ceremony at Roma Street Parklands near the Harry Oakman Pavilion. They scheduled the time of their nuptials quite well as 30 minutes after they said “I Do” the Super Hornet jets made a few practice laps around the city in preparation for their performance that night.

We began the formal location shoot in the park with talented wedding photographer, Adam from Deep Grey Photography, conducting his normal relaxed style of direction. I have worked with him many times over the past few years and I always look forward to the events we team up on. He makes a few cameos during the clip which proves he’s not as stealthy as he likes to believe.  Celebrant Sally Evans conducted the service.

Paula & Michael celebrated their wedding reception at Bistrot Bistro in Woolloongabba with an intimate number of family and friends. The bride admitted she was worried about how the first dance would turn out and even though you can’t see it on here I can safely say it all came out roses!
