Paula & Michael // Roma Street Parklands

September 12th, 2011

Brisbane Wedding Video

I always seem to be filming a wedding in Brisbane on the day of Riverfire and this was my third year in a row. Paula & Michael had their ceremony at Roma Street Parklands near the Harry Oakman Pavilion. They scheduled the time of their nuptials quite well as 30 minutes after they said “I Do” the Super Hornet jets made a few practice laps around the city in preparation for their performance that night.

We began the formal location shoot in the park with talented wedding photographer, Adam from Deep Grey Photography, conducting his normal relaxed style of direction. I have worked with him many times over the past few years and I always look forward to the events we team up on. He makes a few cameos during the clip which proves he’s not as stealthy as he likes to believe.  Celebrant Sally Evans conducted the service.

Paula & Michael celebrated their wedding reception at Bistrot Bistro in Woolloongabba with an intimate number of family and friends. The bride admitted she was worried about how the first dance would turn out and even though you can’t see it on here I can safely say it all came out roses!

Kym & Mike // cinematic wedding highlights

May 20th, 2011

Wedding Videography : Cinematography Brisbane

Kym and Mike organized me for their entire day – start to finish – and with the groom being a video professional I knew I had my work cut out for me. The day started with the preparations and Mike was already in his monkey suit by the time I got to him. He said he had planned it that way, but I think he was quite eager as well. Kym seemed a bit nervous when I arrived at the couples’ home a short while later, but everything went smoothly despite the tiny stresses that pop up on wedding days as they usually do.

The ceremony was held at St Brigid’s Catholic Church in Red Hill. I had just started filming the outside of the place when Mike and his groomsmen rocked up in their classic Charger. A great touch to the day (and you will see how much the groom loves that car in the clip!) After the service we headed to Roma Street Parklands for the location shoot and even though there were some sore feet at the end (including my own) we had a great time.

The reception was in the ballroom at Victoria Park Golf Complex just north of the city. With the couple being huge movie fans – each table had it’s own movie theme to it. One of the highlights of the night was the first dance as Kym & Mike strutted there stuff to ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ by the cast of the TV show Glee.

Natalie & Dean | Sirromet Winery | Brisbane wedding video

January 22nd, 2011

Brisbane Wedding Video

Fashion photographer Natalie Lynn and her husband Dean were married at Sirromet Winery on the bank of the lagoon. It was only the second time I have been to the venue and I wasn’t about to let its beautiful landscapes full of vineyards and hills go to waste.

The day was full of unique ideas and the couple wowed the crowd when they entered the reception with a dance inspired by the movie ‘The Mask.’

Min Yen & Henry // cinematic wedding highlights

January 8th, 2011

Min Yen & Henry were married in the beautiful atmosphere of St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane. I also had the privilege of working with Ben and Lisa of Ben Clark Photography for the first time.

We stopped at the Botanical Gardens and Kangaroo Point for photos before heading to Custom’s House for their reception – one of my favorite venues.

Amy & Richard // Just the Way You Are

October 14th, 2010

Amy & Richard were married at Broadway Chapel in Brisbane with their reception at Victoria Park Golf Complex.

Amy wore a stunning dress and I have to say this was such a fun bridal party to be around – as you may be able to tell with the antics of Thong, the best man! Actually outgoing may be an understatement.

After the ceremony we went to a local park near Mt Cootha to relax and have a small picnic. Our three photo locations included a small paddock (a secret spot), Southbank and the heart of Brisbane CBD where the couple stood in the middle of the busy pedestrian intersection at Edward & Adelaide Streets.  I had never been there before for a shoot and it looked amazing. We were there right on 5pm when everyone was coming out of work so we really got the best out of that spot.

Accompanying me were Todd & Alyda of Todd Hunter McGaw Photography.

The clip is viewable in HD if you have a strong Internet connection. Slower connections should let the video load before viewing. Please leave a comment below and let us know your feedback!

*The ceremony was officiated by Anne Campbell.

Filmed with a Canon 5d Mk II
24 – 105mm f4
70-200mm 2.8

Ash Grunwald @ The Tivoli

July 25th, 2010

The Tivoli in Brisbane was packed in June for this performance by Ash Grunwald during the band’s ‘Hot Mama Vibes’ tour. I had never seen them until this shoot, but after the way they rocked the place I am certainly a fan of their music now.

They allowed me to walk around on stage to get the shots I need and I used my Canon 5d Mk II for the footage. I also locked off another traditional Sony camera on the balcony for the wider shots.
