Rachel & Tony, wedding highlights

June 29th, 2010

Rachel & Tony were married at Cedar Creek Winery & Estate on Mt Tamborine.  Although it was a winter day on the mountain the conditions were near perfect for the event and the trees provided amazing backdrops full of color.  Throw in a full moon and a lunar eclipse and you could say mother nature herself was smiling over this wedding.

I really came to realize how small of a world it can be sometimes as Rachel & Tony know three other wedding couples I have had the privilege of filming for.  One couple in particular, Michelle & Joel Dean (March 2010), were there and Joel even provided MC duties for the evening.

Tom Baker handled the photography and we have worked alongside one another many times.  He lives on the mountain and knows the area so well.

Jasmine & Robert, wedding highlights

June 16th, 2010

I was really looking forward to this wedding shoot and, after meeting up with Jasmine a week before over coffee, I was even more so. She had me excited about what the day as well and I knew it would be perfect. This was only the second time I have filmed at the The Southport School Chapel and what a setting it was for a ceremony.

The rain stayed away and the sun stayed around long enough for me and photographer Derek Smith (who makes a cameo) to get some stunning shots. We had Jasmine spin in her wedding dress near a colorful tree and when a certain tiny guest joined in the fun it made for a magical moment. The candid shots I captured during the photo session really shows off their personalities and is what my style is all about.

Allure did the girls hair and makeup and they are brilliant. Check out their site here.

Danielle & Chris, wedding highlights

May 22nd, 2010

“We woke up to an absolutely perfect day, weather wise !! The day was very relaxed & everything just flowed perfectly… a few champagnes for the girls while we were getting ready & some beers for the boys. The minute we pulled up to the ceremony i thought “This is it… all the planning & effort that went into our wedding & the day was finally here” Again, we could not have asked for the weather to be anymore perfect & the location was stunning (Point Danger at Coolangatta). Onto the beach for photos & a few drinks to celebrate & finished off with a beautiful sunset. You can probably tell by the footage that our reception was pretty loose… that is exactly what we wanted… everyone to just party & have a good time… I think we succeeded cause so many of our guests have commented on what fun they had :) To sum it up… The whole day was perfect… & we had an absolute ball!!” – Danielle
———————————————————————————————————

Barbara filmed this for me and I must say she must have had her hands full at the reception! That must have been one wild night from the dance footage I saw (and some I couldn’t put in this video!)

Emma-Lee & Coby, wedding highlights

May 15th, 2010

I had never been to Hastings Point before and the headland proved to be a spectacular setting for the ceremony. It also had been awhile since I had worked alongside Ruth Petre of Wet Paint Photography and we had a blast! The views provided a great backdrop for both the nuptials and the bridal party photo session with Emma Lee & Coby making a pit stop to the place where they had shared their first kiss.

The reception was held at Tweed Golf Club where my good friend, Drew Jackson, DJed the party into the late hours.  All in all it was a perfect day.

**On a side note, Ruth is now off to get married as well in Las Vegas! You don’t by chance need video for that do you!?

Heidi & Paul, wedding highlights

May 12th, 2010

Heidi & Paul were married at Braeside Chapel in Merrimac on the Gold Coast with their reception just up the road at Lakelands Golf Club.

I didn’t meet Paul til I rocked up to the ceremony site, but I could tell from he and his groomsmen that they were a lot of fun.  The bride arrived by horse and carriage with and as you can tell by the video had quite the entourage.  The nuptials were followed by a butterfly release and then we all zipped around the golf course to get our shots in while the sun waned.

It was great to see a few familiar faces in the crowd including Sheree & Nathan, whose wedding I also filmed late last year, and the brides mother Chrissie, who shares an American accent with me.  Always good to hear another yank!  I don’t run into them all that much.

Sandra & Jaydem, wedding highlights

April 19th, 2010

“Wow, wow, wow!!! Geoff, thank you SO MUCH for the brilliant job you did. We can’t stop smiling!!! You are every bit the genius we knew you would be. Thanks for getting our little baby in there too! We can’t wait to see what magic you work with our video! Thank you so much!” – Sandra & Jaydem

Sandra & Jaydem were a wonderful couple and I had so much fun time capturing such an important day in their lives.  It all started out early with the girls as they made the preparations at a unit in Southport while the boys did what they do best by sitting around, watching footy and having a cold one at the couples’ place in Oxenford.  As soon as I walked in I noticed Sabre, their pet Bull Mastiff and I couldn’t leave without getting some playful shots of him.

The ceremony and reception was on South Stradbroke Island hosted by An Island Hideaway.  Where owners Bennie & Michelle always host a great wedding event.  Photographers Grant and Kathy from Ashford Studio flew up from Sydney to take the snaps and despite the fact this was our first time working together we gelled perfectly.  The sunset provided a sensational backdrop for the last few minutes with the bridal party before dark and I was able to film a few amazing moments on the beach.

As always, you can view the clip in high definition by clicking the HD button in the playable window.  I would love to hear your feedback too by clicking ‘Add comment’ just below this posting.  I spent nearly 5 hours on this edit so I really hope you all enjoy it!

Amanda & David, wedding highlights

April 10th, 2010

I think it would be tough for a couple to make any easier for me. When I met up with Amanda & David a few weeks before the wedding I knew it was going to be a fun event. Both of them were so at ease and laid back, but the emotions on the day were running quite high and it was hard not to get wrapped up in the atmosphere.

Colonial Golf Course in Robina was the setting and celebrant Karen Miles conducted the ceremony. I seem to be running into Karen a lot these days and she performed a brilliant service with the personal touch she brings. The couple laughed and smiled throughout the entire nuptials and must have stole more than a few kisses but saved the best for when it counted.

Amanda & David’s fun-loving nature can really be seen at the reception, but I won’t spoil it for anyone.

Anna & Ben, wedding highlights

March 29th, 2010

Anna & Ben organized their wedding from Hong Kong and I didn’t get a chance to meet them until the day of their wedding. But what a fun couple they turned out to be!  They chose Cedar Creek Winery on Mt Tamborine for the big event.

The rainclouds threatened, but it it turned out to be a perfect day for filming. Not many couples know that a nice and even overcast day is the ideal light for a shoot. It makes the colors come out so well and there’s no glaring from sunlight.

I worked alongside photographers Leanne & Mario from Brischetto Photography for the first time.  It’s always takes awhile to get a feel for new people, but after we had lunch with the bridal party later in the afternoon, we gelled quite well together.

Once again I used my Canon 5d Mark II as my main camera and the footage coming out of it are just marvelous.  This is really a great time to be in the wedding video industry.  As always you can see the video in high definition by clicking the HD button in the playable window.  Slower Internet connection please hit Play then Pause and let the video load before viewing.

Anna chose a beautiful song called “Let’s Start from Here” sung by Joanna Wang in Mandarin.

Amanda & Steve, wedding highlights

March 27th, 2010

Amanda & Steve had their entire day at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast with some added photos taken at nearby Porto Bellago in Emerald Lakes. This was the first wedding where I really utilized my Canon 5d Mark II as the main camera and the results were absolutely amazing. If you really want to see the full effect click the HD button in the playable window to see the video in it’s best resolution.

I had the privilege of working alongside Brad & Kara of Photographic Art. Not only are they immensely talented photographers, but they are great people and know how to have a lot of fun. I think it’s so important when professionals can work together at such an important event and it shows in the final product.

One of the highlights included Amanda arriving to the ceremony in her husband’s ‘67 Ford Mustang! The brides’ little cousin, Rylee, is also featured a bit in the clip as she had some adorable reactions during the shoot. This wedding was also the first time I have been completely doused with champagne as the bridal party celebrated during their photo session. But I didn’t mind much as it was an amazing shot!

The soundtrack, “Feel Like Home to Me,” was played during the couples’ first dance together.

Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think! Enjoy.

  1. David Rilestone wrote: This video is absolutely stunning. Your many handheld shots are amazingly steady. You also opted for very shallow D.O.F. on many of the closeups which you pulled off very well -- you effectively kept the moving subjects in focus which couldn't have been easy. I may have closed down a bit for more D.O.F. with the bride/bridesmaids shots to keep them all sharp, but I realize you probably decided to keep the focus (literally) on the main subject -- the bride. All the technicals - exposure, lighting, white balance, colour, etc. were spot on. A Glidetrack would perhaps have served you well, although that would've required a bit of setup when time may have been an issue (especially if you're operating solo). Choice of music was excellent and struck the perfect mood. It was a real pleasure watching this bit of work. (April 18, 2010 - 10:46 am)
